M.A.C. Satin Lipstick in Brave A52 Review

While in New York City I felt the need to buy a M.A.C. lipstick so that I can say that I own one and I've tried it. I originally thought I was going to get a lipstick from the Heavenly Creatures collection, but when I swatched them I was really turned off by the colours they had. I went back to the front of the store to look at their permanent collection of lipsticks and went on a swatching spree. I came across the lipstick in the satin finish, which I wanted because I didn't ant anything frosty. It is called Brave and is a gorgeous neutral pinky brown colour. I think it's perfect for the fall, and as a neutral for any day of the year.

The lipstick comes in the typical M.A.C. lipstick tube. It reminds me of a bullet, but obviously much larger.

This is the way the lipstick looks in the tube. It looks really nice to me. The actual colour on is slightly darker than in the tube, I find. It is a really great moisturising lipstick, lasts ages, and doesn't really fade. I do tend to reapply throughout the day, but that is simply because I love to reapply and I love the feeling of moisturised lips. I absolutely hate the feeling of dry lips so I always feel the need to wear something on them. This lipstick does come off though when you drink fluids, eat, etc. It has no super staying power. It does last a long time though, even when it is rubbed off slightly. I find it can accentuate the lines in my lips though, which is not very flattering. To help I find wearing a lip balm underneath is a great way to lessen the accentuation of the lines.

Please excuse the slightly blurry picture. This is the way it looks on. I really love the way it looks on me. I think this would look great on people with fair skin, and possibly people with darker skin tones. I'm not sure how it would look on them, but I think that if you're more on the tanned/olive skin side it would look better since you have a great tan. I love that it's a very neutral colour so it won't take away from any eye look you've got going on.

This was priced at $15.00 American, which I didn't think was too bad for a higher end lipstick, although I don't think I'll make a habit of buying these lipsticks. All in all I think this is a great lipstick. I definitely give it a 4/5.

What do you think? Let me know if you've tried M.A.C. lipsticks before and if you recommend any.
